Arturo Arango - Yellow Sudan Rume [natural] filter roast

Arturo Arango is a young coffee farmer who has been producing coffee since 2015. El Paraiso is his 25-hectare farm, located in Barcelona, Quindío. Most of the coffee trees were more than 25 years old when he purchased the farm, so he started to replace every tree, planting Castillo, Costa Rican and Java varieties. After 3 years, the new trees had produced enough coffee to harvest & the results were excellent, encouraging Arturo to continue regenerating his farm. Besides coffee, Arturo grows other crops such as yucca and lemon. Arturo studied Business Administration and completed his master’s degree in agroindustries in Argentina. He has applied his knowledge to produce the highest quality coffees he can. Arturo takes great care to remove all the weeds around the base of his coffee trees and disease prevention.

The cherries from these Yellow Sudan Rume trees were hand-picked at optimum ripeness, then transported on the same day to the La Pradera wet-mill for processing. The coffee cherries were floated and hand-sorted to remove defects, dry fermented for 45 hours & then dried on raised "African" beds in temperature-controlled conditions until the moisture was reduced to around 11%.

After finishing work, Arturo enjoys sauntering around his coffee farm to clear his mind.
