This is a single farm lot which is pretty uncommon for Ethiopia, its our first & probably only washed Ethiopian of the 2023 crop, but its a good one. It has flavours of mandarin, tinned peach & sweet lemonade.
Ashenafi & Simegn started this coffee business over 20 years ago. The farm is situated in Chelchele Kebele [town] in Yirga Chefe Woreda [district]. The farm is 18 hectares, which is pretty large for a farm in Ethiopia. This coffee was processed using the washed method. Coffee cherries were hand-picked when perfectly ripe, sorted to remove defects & under/over-ripe cherries, depulped, dry fermented for 36 hours, washed & then sun-dried on raised beds for 7-15 days.

Wolisho, Kurume & Diga are three common Ethiopian Heirloom cultivars from the highlands of Ethiopia. JARC 74110 & 74158 were selected by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre in 1974. It was a selection from "mother" trees found in the Bishari Forest in the village of Metu. Out of 76 "mother" trees selected, 6 were resistant to Coffee Berry Disease, that had been detected in Ethiopia in 1971. These released to farmers in 70's.
