Chelchele [natural] — Ethiopia

This lot is from Werka Chelchele, a micro-region of  Yirga Cheffe.
The farms are small 1/2 hectare plots of land where the coffee trees grow in amongst the family food crops.
The farmers harvest ripe coffee cherries & deliver them directly to the washing station where they are sorted and dried on raised "African beds" for around 14-21 day.

This lot is Ethiopia Landrace. Ethiopia has thousands of indigenous coffee varieties. We've seen figures of between 6-10000. Some of these have names. There are cultivars, [Bourbon, 74110] & hybrid coffees [Ababuna] available. Ethiopian Landrace are coffees that have come from the coffee forests. They are domesticated, locally adapted traditional varieties.
