EL ZAPOTE GEISHA FILTER⚡️VOLCÁN DE FUEGO FUNDRAISER⚡️
Roasted Monday 13th August 2018
Tens of thousands of people were affected by the June 3rd eruption of Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala with 110 dead, 197 missing & 12,000 evacuated.
We will be roasting this El Zapote Geisha lot kindly donated by our coffee importer John Burton .
100% of the proceeds will go to Hábitat Para la Humanidad - Guatemala they not only provide immediate relief, but ongoing rehabilitation & rebuilding.
El Zapote is a 52 hectare farm located in Acatenango, not too far from Volcán de Fuego. Julio works very hard to improve the quality of his coffee, keeping track of the soil & weather condition for each lot of coffee produced.
In 2014 El Zapote came first in a Rainforest Alliance coffee competion, ahead of the famous Hacienda la Esmeralda. this year Julio came second in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition.
Coffee is processed using an eco friendly wet mill which uses much less water than traditional mills plus they also filter & recycle the water. This geisha was fully washed then dried on raised beds.
