Githembe - SL28 - SL34 - Ruiru 11 - Batian [washed] — Kenya

The Githembe Coffee Factory is one of three coffee factories owned by the members of the Thiririka Farmers Cooperative Society. The Githembe factory was established in the 1969 & serves around 1500 co-op members. After harvesting, coffee is delivered to the factory and undergoes the wet processing method. Water is pumped from the Thiririka River into reservoir tanks for pulping and washing. After pulping, the coffee is stored overnight, washed, soaked and spread on drying tables. The parchment is frequently turned on the drying tables & is then sorted & stored before being delivered to dry mills.
