About the farmer(s)
Mr. Bekele Gemeda - Ethiopian Landrace [washed]
— Ethiopia
This is a single farmer lot from Mr. Bekele Gemeda. He lives in the small village of Worka where he growd coffee on two plots of land, a 6.5-hectare plot & a smaller 3-hectare plot. He has 11 children who help him on the farm. He is incredibly proud that his coffee was good enough to be kept seperate & sold with his name on it. This coffee was processed by the washed method. Coffee cherries were picked ripe, de-pulped the same day, dry-fermented, washed & then dired on raised beds for 5-15 days.

This lot is Ethiopia Landrace. Ethiopia has thousands of indigenous coffee varieties. We've seen figures of between 6-10000. Some of these have names. There are cultivars, [Bourbon, 74110] & hybrid coffees [Ababuna] available. Ethiopian Landrace are coffees that have come from the coffee forests. They are domesticated, locally adapted traditional varieties.
