About the farmer(s)
Urabeast 74110, 74112 [natural]
— Ethiopia
Urabeast was processed at the Wubanchi Washing Station. Grown by around 2800 small-holder farmers who live in the woreda/town of Uraga in the Guji Zone of Southern Ethiopia. Farmers grown coffee at high altitudes on small plots of land alongside food crops. Once harvested, coffee cherries are delivered to the washing station where they are washed & sorted to remove defects, then dried on raised beds for 15-20 days. The dried flesh is then mechanically removed.

74110 and 74112 are selections of Ethiopian landrace coffee cultivars, developed in the 70's at the Jimma Agricultural Research Center [JARC] for resistance dto the coffee berry disease. The prefix '74' indicates that the selection and cataloguing occurred in 1974.
